Tony Belcher I was at PSTS from April 1953 to September 1956 and was a leading hand in Howard House also in my last year there I was drum major under band master Joyce and won the victor ladorum shield for athletics having won at PSTS and the all Barnardo's sports at Barkingside and Woodford Green. During this period I also represented Poole and District Schools and again in 1954, 1955 and 1956 in the 100yards and 220 yards represented Dorset. I left PSTS on the 4th September 1956 to join the Royal Marines on 5th September and saw service in many parts of the world i.e Malaya then onboard HMS Albion then Aden with 45 Commando during this period I was wounded and after hospital a lot of help ended my 12 years at ATURM Poole. I am now wheelchair bound and live in a disable friendly bungalow in Silvermead Care Home in Minehead. Where I teach art to other residents and help with social events. I paint and draw and have taught my carer to read and write and use a computer and she in return has looked after me.
